Hi...i had unsafe sex five years ago and i get tested this week by "hiv combi test" and the result was negative and also by "pcr hiv detection" also the result was negative...so should i feel safe?? Please answer me im very worried
Response from Ms. Southall
Hi The testing guidelines for HIV are to be initially tested at 3 weeks post exposure and then again at 90 days. As long as there are no other exposures happened during this time frame than the results are conclusive. If there have been no other possible exposures since the unsafe sex you had 5 years ago you are HIV free.
Be well and stay safe, Shannon
