|Worried my child was exposed
May 12, 2014
My young child (pre-k) picked up a used condom and put it on his hand like a glove. Less than 24 hours prior, he had a splinter and has a shallow cut on his finger tip from removing it. He is also a nail biter and has some nicked cuticles. My husband washed our child's hands in antibacterial soap and hydrogen peroxide immediately. We preserved the contaminant in a sealed bag. What would be a recommended course of action and how would you categorize his risk for exposure?
Thank you for all of your help.

Kids will put anything anywhere won't they?!?!
As for the risk, there was none. HIV does not live well outside of the body. Any virus present would have been unable to infect another person
