HIV and suppository
Dec 19, 2013
This might be a silly question but I am paranoid after some staff members said "I hope you double gloved." My question is one of my patients has HIV and Hep C and he needed a suppository, I wore gloves and inserted the suppository. I washed my hands right after and did not have any noticeable cuts on my finger. Am I at all at risk or I am just being paranoid?
Response from Dr. Hightow-Weidman
Hello there- You are not at risk from the activity you describe and one set of gloves was certainly protective. I would hope the other staff members would be a bit more professional so as to not cause any unneeded stress on you or the patient. Take care. LHW
