I used to clean a door handle with window cleaning fluid which has alcohol in it after someone with broken skin had used it like 20 seconds later. The cleaning liquid did come through the paper tissue. Does this put me at risk? (I have very tender skin, maybe some small cuts) Is this type of cleaning liquid enough to kill hiv? Thank you for your answer.

Response from Ms. Southall

Hi This does not pose a risk for HIV transmission. You cannot get HIV from touching an inanimate object. Transmission of HIV from a contaminated surface would require massive exposure to blood or other infected liquid for a prolonged period of time. Also the cleaning liquid whether it is alcohol or bleach yes works well on areas to clean and kill virus and bacterias.

There's no need to worry!

Be well and stay safe, Shannon
