Sat on a lot of blood spill?
Oct 11, 2013
I sat on a bus seat that I didn't notice when I sat down when I got up it was a really big spot about the size of my butt that was orangish brownish with a slight red color it looked like maybe it could have been dried unless my pants dried it up. What is my risk of hiv if this soaked through my pants I have a few pimples that I don't think was bleeding at time or if it got inside my crack somehow? Sorry for the weird question I don't think anyone sat there for at least a minute before me. I know typically hiv does not survive outside the body but I'm concerned about the amount. Would you recommend testing?
Response from Ms. Southall
Hi This does not carry a risk for HIV transmission. If indeed it was blood, HIV transmission doesn't occur through clothing. Also once HIV leaves the body it begins to die and within minutes is unable to infect.
Your risk for HIV transmission does not exist in this situation.
Be well and stay safe, Shannon
