hi richard, I had two time sex with a sex worker in 2008 and I never had a hiv test until last month I had 5 hiv tests all are hiv duo (ag/ab)tests and negatives. are those tests reliable? I have read one of your answers that you told a 90 day test should be done. that means 3 rd generation test? my question is should I do 3rd gen elisa pls answer me pls are those 4th gen tests not reliable after 3 months?
Response from Mr. Cordova
Both 3rd and 4th generation HIV tests are accurate after 90 days and will give you a conclusive result. You are negative from the incident in question.
In the future, I would encourage you to be tested for all STD's including HIV at least once a year, and preferably every six months.
