|Symptoms 3 days after possible exposure
Oct 8, 2013
My question is about the bodies initial reaction to HIV infection, not ARS. 9 days ago, went home very drunk with Thai bar girl. Remember buying condoms, remember using them at some point, and remember seeing used condoms next morning as I left. However, I remember very little of the entire night and at some point, I'm assuming condoms might not have been used.
Following days: Day 1 and 2: sore/stiff on both sides of neck then went away Day 3 to 6: irritated/active lymph nodes throughout body. Not at same time, but various locations throughout day. Mainly jaw, neck, groin. Extreme pain behind right ear for about two seconds was the only "real pain" Day 7 to 9 (present): mild discomfort/irritation in chest/collar/jaw nodes. Mild diarrhea.
Day 6 I went to dr for full body checkup and I had no fever, no swollen nodes or organs, and tested neg (which I assumed would happen since it had only been 6 days). So, symptoms so far are irritated/mild painful lymph nodes and mild diarrhea. Should I take any immediate action, go see a doctor, or just wait it out until test day? I do have an appt. tomorrow to talk with doctor about anxiety/stress of symptoms over last week.

Thanks for writing in. Your symptoms are not HIV related and I do not think this situation requires any action at all.
If you need to test for your peace of mind I would suggest an initial test at 28 days and a final test at 90 days.
