| Response from Ms. Southall
Hi Definitely spend time with your health care provider in addressing all the issues to keep both you and your baby healthy. Breast feeding is NOT recommended, the decision between C-Section and Vaginal birth do not come into play here, either way does not increase or decrease risk of transmission. Ensuring that you stay on your medication throughout your pregnancy decreases the risk of transmission to your baby. If your viral load is undetectable the baby risk of HIV is less than 1%. Stay on your meds after the baby is born to keep yourself healthy.
Enjoy this new addition to your life! Be well, Shannon
