Shared a cocaine straw with a sex worker then had protected sex, now i have diarrhea and headaches. what sort of risk have i put myself in?
Response from Ms. Southall
Hi The risk for HIV transmission through your sexual exposure was protected because we know that condoms are effective in the prevention of HIV transmission, as long as they are used correctly and do not break or slip off. As for the sharing of the cocaine straw, there is a small risk for HIV transmission here as well as just the effects of using cocaine. If your symptoms continue I would recommend following up with your health care provider. Anytime that drugs or alcohol are incorporated into a sexual experience your risk is somewhat compromised because all of your faculties are not functioning as well as they do when you are sober.
Be well and stay safe, Shannon
