Hiv Please Guide me

Sep 4, 2013

Hi, all the while with other womans i have protected sex and only with my wife i have unprotected sex. Am i at the risk of infecting HIV/AIDS? I used condom all the time while having sex but unprotected with my wife. I have stopped this kind of life as i just recently engaged, but i am just afraid and worried.

Response from Ms. Southall

Hi, First, condoms are effective in the prevention of HIV transmission, as long as they are used correctly and do not break or slip off. Next, as long as you know your wife is not having unprotected sex with anyone else the risk of HIV transmission is reduced. You also have to remember with having multiple partners your risk for other sexually transmitted infections increases and not all are protected with condoms. Having other active STI's increases your risk of HIV.

Be well and stay safe, Shannon
