Black blotches in period blood??

Sep 1, 2013

I had a possible exposure 9 weeks ago. I tested negative at 6 weeks and I'm going back for my 3 month test in September. I recently started my period and noticed black blotches in my blood. Is that a sign of HIV or no??

Response from Ms. Southall

Hi Good to hear you have plans to return for your follow up test and no dark spots in your feces is not a symptom of HIV. It could be from something you have eaten, changes in your diet etc.... If you notice this getting worse or changing some I would follow up with your health care provider for evaluation but it is not a symptom of HIV.

Be well and stay safe, Shannon
