pls help me, i am so worried

Sep 1, 2013

Hello, you guys did a really good job..i really want to know if i had the chance to contract HIV from drinking beer offered by a stranger which i didn't know if positive or negative..i am just worried because i had small, fresh and unbleeding cut(though it was bleeding 45 minutes ago) behind my lower lip that time. If the stranger is hiv positive, can i contract hiv from him?

Response from Ms. Southall

Hi You cannot get HIV through sharing utensils, drinking or eating after someone, shaking hands, etc.... HIV transmission occurs when there is prolong and direct exchange of body fluid, this most usually through unprotected sex and sharing needles. Even with the cut on your mouth there is no increased risk of HIV transmission by sharing or drinking after someone.

Be well and stay safe, Shannon
