ELISA 4th Generation Test at 28 days
Aug 21, 2013
Hello, recently i have sex with a sex workers (unknown HIV status) with unprotected oral sex and protected vaginal sex. I'm not sure if my penis touch her vaginal fluid before i have my condom on or not as im not sure if she touch her vaginal when she gave me a hand job. on the 28th day after the exposure, i went for test with a 4th generation ELISA test. I would like to know if the result is negative, is it reliable and accurate?
Response from Mr. Cordova
A negative HIV test at 28 days is a good indicator of your true status. However, you must wait until 90 days before you can get a conclusive result.
Your actual risk was low. Unprotected oral and protected vaginal sex are low-risk activities. I do not think this incident requires further testing.
