Needle prick place incontact with hiv + person bleeding

Aug 5, 2013

Hi .. i have a question , i hope i will get a proper answer . If i draw a blood and just in a seconds a hiv positive person whose finger is bleeding , press his finger aginst at the place of needle prick which is also bleeding ,, Is this a way of transmission hiv ? If yes , what are the chances , i mean percentage to get hiv this way

Response from Ms. Southall

HI No! You cannot get HIV from this scenario you have described. Just by someone living with HIV and touching you or an open wound on you does not pose a risk of HIV transmission. HIV transmission occurs when there is a prolonged and direct exchange of body fluid this occurs through vaginal or anal sex, sharing needles and mother to child through breast feeding.

Be well and stay safe, Shannon

Do i need testing??????
