|PEP, elite controllers and antibody suppression
Jul 29, 2013
Dear Dr. Hightow-Weidman
First of all thank you so much for doing what you do. It is so great to have a place to turn to with questions!
So here it goes: After unprotected sex with a heterosexual partner of unknown HIV status in Germany 2 1/2 years ago I completed a 28 day course of PEP. Since then I have had 6 HIV tests at different points post-completion of PEP, the last being 2 years (27 months) post completion of PEP ( at this point I had a PCR and an antigen& antibody test). All came back negative.
Now I want to breathe an move on. However, a lot information that's out there about elite controllers and early ART impacting antibody production worries me. Is there a possibility that I am an elite controller who, due to PEP, never developed an antibody response to HIV or am I entering crazy-paranoid-town?
I know you have a lot on your plate but I would really appreciate an answer! Thanks a ton!

Hello there- My opinion is that you are not infected and can move on from this. Take care, LHW
