Blood in mouth and kissing risk

Jul 5, 2013

I had a long open mouth make out session with a guy I didn't really know very well several days ago. I later found out that he's bisexual and very promiscuous. Of course, now I'm developing a sore throat. I don't believe there would have been any blood in his mouth or mine. To my knowledge, I didn't have any bleeding gums nor did I have any mouth sores. On the off chance that he was bleeding, would both people need to have bleeding and would the amount of blood need to be substantial? Do I need a test?

Response from Dr. Wohl

No. HIV is not transmitted by kissing. DW
