Legal prostitution
Apr 13, 2013

Recently I went to a legal brothel in nevada and had protected sex with a prostitute. Now I am worried that I might have an std or worse hiv. I know the girls are tested weekly but I can't shake this bad feeling that I have. Is this type of sexual activity more risky than meeting someone at a bar/party? Is there a high chance or low chance that I may have gotten something? Any advice would be appreciated.

Response from Ms. Southall

Hi Condoms are effective in the prevention of HIV transmission, as long as they are used correctly and do not break or slip off. You wore a condom! Good job, way to protect yourself. This would work the same way if you had met someone at a bar or online.

Continue being safe and protecting yourself,

Shannon
