Contact with a HIV positive person
Mar 31, 2013

Hi, may I know what is the probability of contracting HIV , when tha vaginal fluid of a HIV positive female enters a cut of a male? In other words, is it 100% confirm that a person will contract HIV if the infected vaginal fluid enters a cut? Thanks

Response from Mr. Glenn

Thanks for your question,

However, this is a difficult one to answer. There are MANY factors that go into whether someone will get HIV. And that's even if there were risk (the first question to help us know the possibility of infection is "what was the risk like"). And it doesn't sound clear that there was risk in the situation you're describing..

The cut would have to be significant and recent (the kind of cut that's probably still bleeding).

Hope this helps!

Erik
