Doc, is it possible to have hiv and test negative for 2 years? Reason I ask is because I have had multiple immune problems. 2 weeks after unprotected sex with heroin user. My teeth are decaying, periodontal disease, had shingles, strep b, bacterial vag, exema, edema, chest rashes on and off, low rbc, eat infections , flu many, many times, throat infections, and low tsh levels with normal t3 t4? The list keeps going..... So do I need a different test? One for rare strains? I'm extremely fatigued and really need answers all doctors have said antibody test is all I need? My 1 year old is also having strange sicknesses, can't sleep, and poops non stop diahera! I feel like no one cares and I want to give up. Had viral DNA and RNA test but these don't test for rare strains. Dr won't do cd4 can I order it somewhere?
Response from Dr. Wohl
It sounds like you have something else going on as the testing should have picked up evidence of HIV.
