Question about anal sex
Mar 22, 2013

There was a intercourse doing protected anal sex.(Receptive) I know protected sex is safe. But, before anal sex, there was 1~2 times brief unprotected dipping with lube. Little part of head of penis(maybe 1/4) entered my sphincter muscle I guess. And after that anal sex with condom used.

There was blood inside anal after sex. I worried that remaining precum during dipping cause infection. Furthermore, I think hurt in anal increase infection.

So, I took PEP after 69hrs exposure. But Im still worried.

Response from Dr. Hightow-Weidman

Hello there- You are correct that precum is considered a fluid that can transmit HIV infection. I would agree with your use of PEP in this instance and would suggest continuing for the full 28 course. That will give you the best chance of remaining negative. Hope that helps. Take care, LHW
