HIV transmission

Mar 17, 2013

I am 26 yrs old unmarried women. Once i had to help a lady to stay in my room. I gave her my bed, bed spreads, blanket and pillows, I used the same on the same day within 2- 3 hrs interval after she used, without washing, I worry if her saliva or her body fluids would have felled on the blankets and pillows and if she is HIV positive would it have been transmitted to me. I am more worried, because later i came to know that she has illegal relatioships with others.

Response from Ms. Southall

Hi HIV transmission does not occur through casual contact, this includes lying on blankets or sheets and using pillows that someone living with HIV has used. HIV transmission occurs when there is a direct exchange of body fluid through sex or needle sharing.

Be well and stay safe, Shannon
