transmission of HIV on heterosexual males?
Feb 25, 2013
How do straight men contract HIV? According to the literature that I've read, it seems that it is difficult for a male to contract HIV from vaginal intercourse. With that said, how is it that straight females contract the virus if straight men are less likely to contract the virus? Thank you for your time in answering my question.
Response from Ms. Southall
Hi Yes the numbers of heterosexual men with HIV is low. Women become positive by partners who are injection drug users, men who have sex with men, and yes from straight men can get HIV from women. Though a very low risk it does happen.
Be well and stay safe, Shannon
