| unprotected risk Feb 24, 2013 Dear expert, i had unprotected sex with a csw on the 27th September 2012. I have done an Elisa Hiv antibody blood test on the 96th day and one on the 147th day (21weeks). My doctor is telling me to test again at the 6 month mark for a conclusive result. Is 6 months 180 days or 24 weeks ? Please advise me on my situation as i am so stressed with anxiety and i have a wife and 2 lovely kids. Please give me your expert opinion ? |

Response from Dr. Hightow-Weidman
Hello there It is my opinion that standard HIV antibody tests, whether oral swab or blood are very accurate at 28 days, and conclusive at 90 days. I do not think you need additional testing unless you have had repeated exposures. Take care, LHW | |||||||||
