Needlestick exposure Feb 11, 2013 I got a sub cutaneous needle stick from a patient who seems very sick. It's been 26 days post exposure my elisa came back negative. However I feel sick and I have night sweats, low grade fever, loss appetite, lost 10 lbs, enlarged lynph nodes, just feeling awful. My question is how accurate is the elisa test they also did a p24 antigen test awaiting those results. Thank u |

 Hi there: The antigen test would have been likely to pick up the infection and an ELISA test at 26 days would also be a fairly good indicator of your true status. Follow up with a final ELISA or Western Blot at 90 days. I am confident the result will remain negative. In health, Richard | ||||||||
