Risk from gynecolgical exam Jan 25, 2013 During my annual exam my obgyn removed the speculum, opened a drawer to put it in after completing my pap smear, and then proceeded to do my internal exam. Is there any risk of hiv transmition if she touched the drawer with vaginal fluid on her hands after examining her previous patient, then contaminated her hands with the vaginal fluid of that patient when opening the drawer during my exam, then inserting that hand into me? I am still nursing my son and have an irrational fear of catching hiv and passing it to him. Thank you greatly. |
