Please put my fear to rest!!

Jan 22, 2013

Hello. I had unprotected vaginal sex with a male of unknown status. I have tested many times out to 190 days with rapid test at a clinic. They have all been negative. Is my last test at 6 months full and final, no ifs ands or buts, 150% conclusive? What if anything could cause seroconversion after 6 months? Thank you!

Response from Ms. Southall

Hi The guidelines for HIV testing are to be initially tested 3 weeks post exposure then again at 90 days if this test is negative than so are you. You are well outside of that testing guideline and as long as there have been no other exposures during this time you are HIV free and can rest assured the testing is conclusive.

Be well and stay safe, Shannon
