I am from France and I got a traditional carpet from Thailand. After breakfast I walked on it barefoot and something pricked my foot. I couldn't find anything at the First time, about 10 hours later I checked my Foot again because it still hurt and there I saw a splinter. Would I be at risk if it would have Been contaminated? The carpet was Hand made and has already Been laying in my Flat for 3 days. I used a vacuum cleaner but unfortunately Missed this splinter :-(. Am I at risk??

Thanks for your question,
There is absolutely no risk for HIV from what you're talking about.
You can only get HIV when body fluid carrying HIV (e.g. blood, semen, breast milk, vaginal fluids) leaves a person's body and goes immediately/directly inside someone else's body. All of that must happen. Even if that splinter somehow got in contact with HIV infected body fluid, it would have been rubbed away a long time before you ever came in contact with it. Besides, the splinter didn't even pierce through to your blood stream. So there's too many missing pieces of the equation.
Hope that helps!
