Shannon's advice needed (you are the best!)

Jan 16, 2013

Hi Shannon,

I hope you can help me with some concern. I think I might be a little paranoid but I am in a very difficult pregnany and I just want to be sure that everything is ok. I am very sorry. My husband and me bought an Indian carpet. When I touched it at home I got some Kind of dried bloody scurf mixed with hair on my hand. I know that dried blood is not condidered infectious - is that so even if it gets into contact with small cuts?

Response from Ms. Southall

Hi Thank you!! No need to worry. If it were to be blood, HIV dies once it is outside of the body and is unable to infect! Most especially with it being dried you are assured that if there were any HIV in that blood it has been unable to infect for a long time!

Enjoy your pregnancy! Be well and stay safe, Shannon

Oraquick Oral Swab In-Home HIV test (12 weeks & 13 weeks)
