| Worried mom Jan 13, 2013 My 4 year old fell on his hands and knees while walking outside in the city. We kept on walking but when I got to the car he had cut his knee. The cut looked like it was from a sharp object. I didn't know or remember exactly where he fell so I don't know what could have caused the scratch. It could have been a needle right? Could he get HIV in this way? What if he did fall on such a thing? I just need an expert opinion and would appreciate yours. Thank you for your time |

Response from Dr. Wohl
Kids fall in the city all the time. The good news is that the chances of falling on a needle that is loaded to the hilt with infected blood is so small as to be considered inconsiderable. I would let this go and not worry. DW | |||||||||
