hi dr shannon, can u tell me about primary hiv infections? inbetween 6 months what symptoms should be suffer to hiv infected person at window period? pls tell me thank you for your time .
Response from Ms. Southall
Hi Symptoms of HIV vary from person to person as well as time from each person. Some can experience major symptoms and some may not experience anything. The most common symptoms are fever, rash, nausea, diarrhea, basic flu like symptoms. The only way to know your status is not from symptoms but from being tested. The guidelines for testing are to be initially tested at 3 weeks then again at 90 days if the test is negative than so are you.
Be well and stay safe, Shannon
