Can HIV be transmitted through clothing ?Jan 1, 2013 hello ,, Ok so I had an uncle who was hiv positive which passed away because of it about a year ago. All his clothing was at my mothers and she gave me some to keep for memory , I happened to wear a pair of his sweats with no underwear on without washing the sweats first. Now idk if he was positive when he wore them or if he had draws or not , but is there a possibility that it may some kind of contact with me ? Please let me know thank you very much . |

![]() | Response from Ms. SouthallHI No way for HIV to transmit through clothing! You are fine. HIV dies once it is outside of the body and is unable to infect anyone. Peace of mind could come if you run all his clothes through the laundry as this will take care of anything on the clothing. But again, no way you can get HIV this way. Be well and stay safe, Shannon | ||||||||
