HIV from semen on towel
Dec 31, 2012

After mutual masturbation, I used a towel to clean myself (including wiping over the urethra) that had been used about 10 minutes before by the other guy. It is possible semen on the towel came into contact with my urethra. Is there a risk of contracting HIV this way, and should I be tested?

Response from Ms. Southall

HI No need to get tested, this is not a way for HIV to be transmitted. HIV dies once it is outside of the body and unable to infect others.

You are fine!

Be well and stay safe, Shannon
