Bleeding gums Post sexual encounter. Please Help Me!
Dec 28, 2012
Was with a woman with unknown hiv status. NO oral sex or intercourse. Just alot of deep kissing. About two hours after this occurred, i flossed and brushed as usual and noticed my gums were bleeding (not uncommon) 3 days later i came down with a massive headache on the back side\neck area accompanied with nausea. the headaches persisted 24hrs a day for almost a week. Is there a risk for hiv in this particular case where there were bleeding gums after a sexual encounter. I understand the dangers of bleeding gums during a sexual encounter
Response from Ms. Southall
Hi HIV transmission will not happen through kissing. However herpes is transmitted this way. I would recommend that if your symptoms continue to follow up with your health care provider to be examined to see what might be going on, but again there is no risk of HIV transmission this way.
Be well and stay safe, Shannon
