Gonorrhea
Dec 28, 2012

I m male, had unprotected sex with a pro, after 4 days it started paining while urinating and also discharge from penis. I was not having frequent urination. Doctor confirmed that i have got gonorrhea. Doctor advised for HIV screening. M i at risk of HIV ? please guide.

Response from Mr. Cordova

Hi there:

Yes you were at risk for HIV. Having unprotected penetrative sex (vaginal or anal) poses a risk for HIV transmission. As the insertive partner, your risk was lowered, but there was still a risk. An HIV test at 90 days will give you a definitive answer.

In the future, please remember that next to abstinence, using a condom for each and every act of penetrative sex is the best way to protect yourself against HIV and other STD's.

In health,

Richard
