Is testing recommended???
Dec 10, 2012
Dear Shannon Simple question but would you recommend testing following a single protected sex act? Just to be sure I tested neg with a home test at 6 weeks
Keep testing or take protected experience ans 6 week results and move on?
Response from Ms. Southall
Hi If the only risk was protected sex than no testing is not recommended.
For testing either with the home test kit or in an office, The guidelines for HIV testing are to be initially tested at 3 weeks then again at 90 days, if both of these tests are negative then so are you, as long as there were no other types of exposure during that 3 month period, if so then the timing starts over again.
But again, for a protected sexual act I would not recommend testing.
Be well and stay safe, Shannon
