hiv from piercing
Dec 4, 2012
i had my ears pierced today at the mall the website says that they use one step, single use, sterilized, prepackaged piercing earrings that meet or exceed FDA (Food & Drug Administration) guidelines. that means, no needles! i am worried about hiv, should i get tested for it?
Response from Mr. Cordova
There is no risk of transmission in a situation like this and you answered your own question. There are no needles and the earrings used to pierce your ears are single use, sterilized, and pre-packaged. It's not possible for the virus to be present in this situation, making transmission impossible. The virus must be present for transmission to occur.
