Dec 2, 2012

Response from Ms. Southall

Hi I'm glad to hear that you started with a condom, sorry that the condom slipped off. This does increase your risk because of not knowing her status. Having the 2-3 minutes of unprotected sex puts you at risk for not just HIV but all of the sexually transmitted infections. The guidelines for HIV testing are to be initially tested at 3 weeks then again at 90 days, if both of these tests are negative then so are you, as long as there were no other types of exposure during that 3 month period, if so then the timing starts over again.

Be well, Shannon

hiv through kissing
Can acute infection starts soon as 5 days after possible exposure?
