About the 3 month mark Oct 6, 2012 Hi, you say the guideline is to get a test at 3 months for conclusive results. Is there a safety period inside those 3 months in order to say 3 months mark is conclusive without a doubt? |

 Hithen the 3 months is The guidelines for HIV testing are to be initially tested at 3 weeks then again at 3 months, if both of these tests are negative then so are you, as long as there were no other types of exposure during that 3 month period, if so then the timing starts over again. As long as there were no other exposures during this time then yes it is safe. If there are exposures during this time, they must be protected and even with that if someone is positive during this time there is a risk of HIV transmission happening. If someone has been infected with HIV the first few months of infection are the most infectious times. So protection during this time is absolutely necessary.
