so iam hiv negative ?
Sep 30, 2012

iam asking again because some of the persons are saying there is a chance to get hiv after 6 months or 12 months is this correct?iam scaring too much , thank you dr shannon just before i asked to you. u answer to me thank you so iam hiv negative? 90th day test result was accurate? please answer to me thank you

Response from Ms. Southall

Hi The guidelines for HIV testing are to be initially tested at 3 weeks then again at 3 months, if both of these tests are negative then so are you, as long as there were no other types of exposure during that 3 month period, if so then the timing starts over again.

The sensitivity of the testing we use today has decreased the time needed for testing. yes it used to be getting tested at the one year or 6 month mark. No longer the case, 3 months is the guideline now.

Be well and stay safe, Shannon
