VL for ARV
Sep 24, 2012

i know my status on marc 2012, that time my cd4 221 and viral load 350k. i start take vitamins and suplemen and my cd4 raise to 348. i took last cd4 test in different hospital than the first test. my doctor said eventough my cd4 rise but my viral load quite high so i better start to drink arv. but the other doctor..its ok to delay arv. which one is correct ? my condition still ok but sometimes i feel got respiration problem

Response from Dr. Hightow-Weidman

Hello there- I would recommend starting ARV therapy. I think there is sufficient data to recommend ARV therapy for people with CD4 counts less than 500. CD4 counts can vary day to day and so seeing one value go up would not change my recommendations. While taking vitamins is great, it will not effect your CD4 count in the long run and ARV is the way to go. Take care, LHW
