burning sensation on my finger tips after touching HIV+ person
Aug 31, 2012

Doc, i shaked an hiv+ person and after some few seconds i started feeling a burning sensation on my finger tips and my fingers started getting a little stiff. I have not been myself since then, that was 3days ago. Im i at risk? Pls answer me. Worried person

Response from Mr. Glenn

There is absolutely no risk from the situation you're describing. None. You cannot get HIV from touching someone who has HIV!

To get HIV, a body fluid with HIV has to come out of someone's body and go directly/immediately inside someone else's body. None of this occurred in your situation.

I appreciate you asking the question so that you can learn more about the truth of transmission. Definitely explore our archives to learn more!

Hope this helps!

Erik
