Response from Dr. Hightow-Weidman
Hello there- There are many infections that could cause "sores" in people with HIV/AIDS and many can be cured and almost all can be treated. For example, Herpes virus can cause sores on the genitals or oral area and can be treated with antiviral medications to both heal lesions and help to prevent recurrences. Syphilis is another STD that can cause sores (in people with HIV and those without) which can be cured with antibiotics. HOpe this helps. Take care, LHW | |||||||||
