hiv from pool ,.......please helpAug 13, 2012 need a little help. My son and I were swimming in our neighborhood pool. While we were in the pool I was talking to a friend and grabbed what I thought was a leaf and began fiddling with it in my hands while we were talking. when I looked down at it after a minute I realized it was a band aid. say there was blood on the band aid and I touch it with a cut is there any risk? would the fact the the hiv is outside the body cause this to be no risk? and also does the chlorine kill hiv instantly ? please help I think my son touch it as well......thanks |

![]() | Response from Mr. GlennThanks for your question, There is absolutely no risk from the situation you're describing. None. For most all the reasons you mentioned in fact! HIV cannot live outside of the body. Who knows how long that band-aid was lying there. But we know it was entirely too much time to allow HIV to survive. Hope this helps! Erik | ||||||||
