Jan 18, 2012 hi i had asked a ? before but it didnt get a response. i was tested for hiv on dec 20th and results came back + . i have not had any sexuall intercourse other than with my wife. which tested negative. i was tested in 2008 and was negative. i have never had sexual intercourse with another woman. all i have ever gotten was massages at massage parlors and recieved handjobs on some occasions and that was after my body was cleaned with a hot towel then handjobs happend. i have never used drugs or had intercourse with any other women before or being exposed to hiv risk before. they are telling the test for me were confirmed. can i get hiv from getting a handjob.also i had a cystoscopy done in sep28th in my urologist office on my urethra which is supposed to be safe. i had two massages one oct31 and nov 22 then i got this news from my doc dec 27th . i dont know what to make of this. should i get rechecked when i got tested i was sick with a stomach virus. i dont know if that matters . but this dsnt add up.

It sounds like you had a positive HIV antibody test. Typically, an ELISA or EIA test is done first and then a confirmation is done with another test called the Western blot. This is changing but is still common practice. IF both of these are positive you are almost certainly infected. In many developed nations a viral load test that looks for the actual virus rather than the antibodies the virus makes to HIV is done. IF this finds HIV, there is no doubt in the diagnosis.

So, you must find out what testing has been done. IF it turns out you are HIV+ then it is unclear how you were infected given your history, but there would have to have been some other exposure than those you describe. hey doctor wohl i was following up on your response. i went to see an infectious d doc they ran cd4 and rna test the day after u posted your response the results were cd4 854 38% cd8 532 32% no virus load detected below 20 copies for the rna test. antibodies still show positive .i was then told they found hpylori from stomach biopsy. something very werid is going on with my body . and i am not lying about my risks or exposures. only thing i ever have gotten was penis to hand contact with only my fluid coming out. only intercourse is with my wife which is negative 90 days. i had a back massage on oct31 2011 where the woman squeezed a pimple on my back and wiped it with a clean tissue. on nov 22 2011 i had a foot massage reflexology which i felt i pressure pinch on the bottom of my toe. sept 28th 2011 had a cystoscopy . if this was a brand new infection exp from sept 28th forward with the incidents i mentioned would i show no virus load on jan 19th. and are handjobs squeezing of a zit foot massage risks for hiv. worst of all why i am coming up positive when i should not be can something else be going on . and no doctor wants to look into my cases. worst of all i am married man 2kids and a wife i have no reason to lie. this very real .pls respond need ideas

It would be important to know how the test was confirmed. Was a Western blot test done? This is the test that would most commonly be used to confirm HIV infection. Was a viral load done?
