Doubts on HIV infection
Jul 7, 2012

Dear Sir, i had sex with a girl probably a call girl ,while having intercourse i had wore condom and before ejaculation i removed it and noticed that condom was broken and was scared for the incident, So i want to get tested for HIV but in the forum i saw that one must wait for 3 months until window period , can you please tell me what are the symptoms for HIV + person in this window period.

Regards, Aryan

Response from Ms. Southall

Hi Yes the guidelines for HIV testing are to be initially tested at 3 weeks then again at 3 months, if both of these tests are negative then so are you. Not everyone experiences symptoms but if they do the symptoms generally experienced are similar to the common cold or flu: fever, fatigue, and, often, rash. Other common symptoms can include headache, swollen lymph nodes, and sore throat.

Be well and stay safe, Shannon
