Condom broke while having unprotected anal sex
May 30, 2012

Hi

I'm a male and had anal sex with a female prostitute within the last few hours, and didn't realise until after that the condom had broken

I also have a cut on my penis and so this is making me very worried that i may have contracted something

What should i do? Should i go to see a GP?

I'm in Paris for one year and I'm really not sure what i should do

I read about about something called PEP but I'm not sure if its available in France or not?

Hel

THanks

Response from Ms. Southall

Hi Unfortunately having the condom break during anal sex does pose a significant risk of HIV transmission and getting tested for HIV is important. PEP has to be started within the first 72 hours. The guidelines for HIV testing are to be initially tested at 3 weeks then again at 3 months, if both of these tests are negative then so are you.

Be well and get tested! Shannon
