| some light on how to get HIV besides sexual contact May 30, 2012 Hello! My sister was diagnosed with Burkitt's lymphoma and also discovered she is HIV positive. Although we have chosen to focus on her cancer, we wonder what happened? She has been marry for 18 years. No infidelity issues. About seven years ago, she had her nose pierced. She also was going regularly with the dentist (braces). Could any of these (piercing and dentist) be the cause? I've looking all over for some answers but pretty much everything is focus on sexual encounters. Thank you and hope to hear from you soon. |

Response from Ms. Southall
Hi Though very unlikely it is possible to be infected by dirty needles. Something may have happened before she was married as well. My biggest advice is to not focus on how it happened but on how to get her treated and get everything under control. Be well and stay safe, Shannon | |||||||||
