Finger from vagina to ass HIV risk May 2, 2012 Hello and thanks for the great work you do. I am very worried about an encounter I had with a sex worker. She applied lubricant to her vagina and then a few minutes later put presumably the same finger in my ass and rubbed it vigorously. She did not use a condom. What really worries me is I have hemorrhoids where there is occasionally minor traces of blood on the toilet paper when I wipe (sorry for the detail) although not sure if that was the case that day. Can you comment on the riskiness of contracting HIV in this way and if you have heard of infection in this way? Thanks |

 Hi Not knowing for sure her status and for sure which one of her fingers entered you and with your history of hemorrhoids and current bleeding, the likelihood of transmission is small, but I would encourage you to get tested to be sure. The guidelines for testing are to have the first at 3 weeks and then another at 3 months. If these are both negative then you are fine from this experience. Be well and stay safe, Shannon | ||||||||
