| Non bleeding wound contact with blood Apr 29, 2012 Hi, i helped a friend who was bleeding. I had a 1mm 8hr old non bleedingcut on dorsum aspect of middle finger which i suspect got some blood on it. Wht is my risk of contracting hiv? And also what are the conditions required 4 transmission in this kind of scenerio. Thank you. Urgent. |

Hi The cut had to much more recent for there to be risk of HIV transmission. For occupational exposure people are placed on Post Exposure Prophylaxis within 72 hours of the exposure. I believe your exposure was very low risk and you are fine. You can be tested the initial test should occur at 3 weeks post exposure then another at 3 months, for your peace of mind.
