RIsk of transmission?
Apr 18, 2012

Hi,

Does it pose a risk of HIV transmission if a female touched/fingered her vagina before then masturbate a male's penis (including tip/head and shaft). I have read a lot posts in this forum and understand the need for body fluid to be pushed into the urethra through the "thrusting motion" of penetrative sex. However, if the vaginal fluid is in contact with the tip of penis (a small amount get into the opening). Urethra is considered as the passage starting from the opening right? Then wouldn't it be seen as a pathway for transmission?

Thank you and regards.

Response from Ms. Southall

Hi You are correct that this is a way for HIV to enter into your body, but knowing that HIV dies almost immediately after leaving the body and there has to be an opening. The amount of virus in the vaginal fluid has to been extremely high and so is HIV transmission possible yes, probable no.

Be well and stay safe, Shannon
